Our Commitment to Net Zero: Carbon Reduction Plan
18.01.2025
At Copping Joyce Surveyors, we’re proud to announce the publication of our first Carbon Reduction Plan, reaffirming our commitment to environmental responsibility and aligning with the UK Government’s target to achieve Net Zero emissions by 2050.
As a firm of chartered surveyors working with public and private sector clients, we recognise the role our profession plays in promoting sustainable practices, not only in the advice we give, but in how we run our own business.
Why this matters
Our Carbon Reduction Plan has been developed in accordance with Procurement Policy Note (PPN) 06/21, which sets out the government’s expectations for suppliers bidding for major public sector contracts. We believe this is more than a compliance exercise, it's a meaningful opportunity to examine our environmental impact and set clear, measurable goals for improvement.
What we’re doing
Our 2024 carbon footprint assessment shows that the majority of our emissions come from electricity use and business travel. While our footprint is modest, typical for an SME in the professional services sector, we’re committed to continuous improvement. Our current and future actions include:
Switching to renewable energy providers for our office
Maintaining a hybrid working model to reduce commuting emissions
Investing in energy-efficient systems and lighting
Moving toward a fully paperless workflow
Encouraging low-carbon travel options for staff
We’ve set a target to reduce our emissions by 35% by 2030, and we will review and update our plan annually as we work toward Net Zero.
